Lorena Torres

Born in 1991 and raised in Colombia and of Caribbean descent, Lorena Torres' artistic journey is a tale of her intimate bond with the rural landscapes she grew in, and serves as a profound testament to her deep connection with the essence of her vibrant background. She holds a BFA in Visual Arts from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá.

Through her paintings, she intricately weaves narratives that transcend language, speaking directly to the soul of her audience. Each brushstroke tells a story - from the faces of politicians adorning weathered murals to the resilient flowers defiantly blooming in coastal cemeteries.

Torres’ work evokes the surreal, fiery, and gritty nature of the Caribbean, capturing its cultural heritage while offering a fresh perspective on how the region sees the world. It is a celebration of life, drawing inspiration from the countryside, the fruits, the scent of the mountains, and the melodies of rain and wind. Her paintings are not merely images but stories waiting to be discovered, experiences waiting to be lived. Lorena invites us to embark on a journey of exploration and discovery, where every stroke of the brush reveals a new facet of the Colombian Caribbean's rich tapestry of life.
